My Background
My career began with intensive therapy services for foster youths, families in crisis, and neurodivergent adults with chronic struggles with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. They were referred to the agencies I worked with because they hadn't responded to outpatient therapy. Even when they'd practiced the best techniques, tried new specialized approaches, or had moments of breakthrough insight - things just weren't changing.
Their perseverance impressed me, and I wanted our work together to avoid repeating a pattern. We'd talk about what had happened when they'd tried before, and what obstacles they ran into. There wasn't usually a single answer or any need to assign blame about why things hadn't worked in the past. But a small change in focus could spark creative thinking and problem solving.
It's the nature of life that sometimes the harder we push to change a cycle, the more that cycle pushes back. Fortunately, though, that's not the whole story. Because it's also the nature of life for change and adaptation to be a constant, ever-flowing reality. How do we tap into that? When people began to finally encounter change, the starting points were often subtle and unexpected.
There are places in every life where small adjustments can have big results. I practice a style of therapy that helps bring those leverage points to the surface. Whether you've been in therapy before or if this is your first time, here's my goal: to help you step out of a cycle of frustration, and into a new paradigm that flows with the natural, continual changes that life brings.
